Once again we find ourselves in the familiar premises of KL...more specifically Zouk KL! Streething had asked us to support their All In The Family event that features street art, streetwear, customised toys and sneakers, and the highlight being a live installation by Dave White, Lazy and SBTG on the same stage all at once!!!

We were there for the free booze...oh and of course the tees we designed and printed for the event. Shout out to Darbotz for his killer monster design!

Streething presents “ALL IN THE FAMILY”

Get ready for a post-Valentine’s day massacre as the Streething family takes over Zouk once again. Unlike past events like last year’s successful Swap & Gawp 2007 meet that was more focused on sneakers, ALL IN THE FAMILY is a call to arms to all our extended family members in South East Asia Pacific. This round there will be no extremity, no rim land, no borders! Your ridiculous obsession with streetwear is your access to this event!

ALL IN THE FAMILY presents regionally acclaimed appearance and performances from wall to wall. Our non-stop line-ups of Art, Action, Music, Fashion will definitely hold your senses hostage

6:30pm: Graffiti installation by some of the regions best represented street artists, including:

Darbotz (Indonesia)

Jahan (Taiwan/Singapore)

Orkibal (Malaysia)

Phobia Crew (Malaysia)

The Killer Gerbil (Singapore)

Action: Simultaneous skate demo by leading skateboarders and rollerbladers from the region will be leaving skid marks all over Zouk, line ups are:

Music: At 8.00pm, guests will be ushered into the Mainroom, where globe-trotting rapper, MC Vandal (Canada), will pump his lyrical prowess against a backdrop of montages and footage from past Streething events.

Fashion: We will be presenting streetwear fashion show styled by Ethan Chu that will feature family members modeling streetwear from streetwear stores around the region. Our invited Models are not your average Kent and Barbies but of local trendsetters and influencers. It is our personal illustration of how real fashion should be represented by “REAL PEOPLE”

Music again: the Lapsap crew (DJ Blink and DJ XU) will be bringing their unique mix of funky and eclectic tunes to keep the party in an enrapture throughout the night.

Art again but nevertheless…The highlight of the night will be a live sketching demonstration by renowned artist Dave White (UK), who will be making his first public appearance in Malaysia. Another high point will be an installation by esteemed sneaker customizers Mark Ong aka SBTG and Lazy.

There will be also display of customized sneakers, bearbricks, toys and art pieces at stadium area (mezzanine floor) brought to you by:

Apart from that, there will be a limited print run of T-shirts designed by Darbotz and the Sole Obsession collective up for sale. People who purchase aformentioned T-shirts qualify for a lucky draw, with a stash of prizes that include mobile phones courtesy of Samsung Mobile.

These are just too cute not to be mentioned here! Got me a glimpse of the New Balance x Sesame Street collabs for infants and toddlers today, and I must say these shoes are just waiting to jump on kids feet!!

Got sprung a surprise as well when a Cookie Monster pair was shoved into my hands by the terrific people at New Balance.

this is another project finish at the end of 2007.

i had a chance to apply cumi to one of the badass mofo in town. the brandals !

yep not just because the vocalist is my colleague but i like the band from the beginning,

the raw rockabilly bollocks. im telling you..they are real, they are real "brandals".

Brandalism : A counter reaction in response to the rapidly defacing urban public environment by corporate logos, advertisements and brands (Brand+vandalism). The act including reconstruction, re-structuring, demolishing, of the corporate brand/logos on display. To claim back any visual identity that has been originally belong to the public and its communities.

The communal activities originally started in Berlin by the tail end of the 90s. Initiated by anti-corporate/ contra global-trading/ counter-culture communities which consist mainly by university students, artist, musician and young political activists. The movement then started spread throughout Europe continent and flourished in Britain, adopted by newly emerged graffiti artists such as Banksy, Jim Tower and Ad-Buster communities among others.

We, The Brandals, as a musical outfit, whom operate in the same counter-react manners towards our local music industry system, applied the term as our 3rd album title. Since we holds no political issues whatsoever in our agenda, the term only goes as-far-as artistic stance and practice rather than political statement. But alas, we are hoping to distribute similar cause and effects to our listener. That the message is clear: To always plan, execute and evaluate actions independently without major intervention from outside parties. To always take matters and risks into your own hand.

The term randalisme?also applies at our development as a musical outfit. The band is continuously evolves to the extent where we finally discovered distinctive characterization of The Brandals sounds on this album. Blends of blues sways, punk rock stomps and rockabilly rolls are obvious evidence ever since our first debut. But then here on our 3rd outing, we are expanding to another territory that wee never been before. An elaborate fusion of other elements that is could be summarized as The Brandals sound. Hence the title, Brandalisme.

On this particular album we have received great deal of helps from our peers that also has given invaluable supports. Ramondo Gascaro and Awan Garnida from Sore (Aksara Record label mate) contributed backing vocals, pianos and Hammond. Amar Ramadhan from Maliq and Dssentials return with his trumpet blows on s It You Girl??br>

Aghi Narottama (Ape On The Roof) who has taken the role as sound engineer in mixing and mastering process also provides his boogie piano sting on the first single ?00% Kontrol? Respective name like David Tarigan also rocked on our repertoire in ity Boy?with his acoustic guitar. We are also collaborated with Darbotz, a young Jakarta graffiti artist who designed the album cover and sleeve with his distinctive Cumi icon. With all these supports, Brandalisme has became an extension of our progression and maturity journey that had been initiated on Audio Imperialist (Flystation/Warner 2005)

This is what wee come to this extent so far to offer. The sound that might be interpreted, categorized and reviewed as worse or better to the listener (or media). Frankly, to our benefit, the last thing we are concern about is criticism or any of the traits above. This is what had came and poured from the deepest pit of our heart. The sound of Brandalisme.
